DSL differs from other broadband services in that it is not a shared bandwidth connection. The telephone line carries your dedicated bandwidth to the DSL card in our office. This bandwidth is not shared with anyone else, thus there is no "neighborhood" like cable modem, or oversubscribed satelite or wireless radios. What this means is that your throughput is the same all day long, and not subject to the number of "neighbors" who are online.
Our dsl speed varies depending on your location. We will guarantee 1.5Mbps download and 384kbps upload, but over 80% of our customers get 5Mbps download and 1024kbps upload. *This connection is very fast and fully capable of browsing, gaming, and voice and video streaming. There is no contract or agreement for service and can be cancelled at anytime if it isn't what you expect.

Broadband subscribers have the option for 5 email accounts with service.* The email servers have spam filtering and are fast. The email server is constantly upgraded and maintained to provide fast delivery without junk mail. Along with the spam filter, every email is filtered by 4 antivirus programs. With that information, keep in mind that your server should never be your only defense for maleware programs. Keep a good antivirus and anti-spyware program on your computer. There are several free antivirus and anti-spyware programs available on the Internet. This site provides links to some of the programs, but is not affiliated with them.
There are several reasons to have a local email account.
* Number of email accounts is negotiable, usually without extra charges.
Static ip addresses are available on request. This could be useful for businesses that use VPN software, video monitoring systems, or other solutions for the business needs. Also, customers promoting game servers would benifit from static ip addresses for reachability. All ip addresses are publicly routable, which means there are no firewalls on the network side that would cause connectivity issues that you cannot control. If you have questions regaurding this service, please contact the system or network administrator.
Resolving your ip address to a name is an option for all customers that use static ip address. This will allow you to not have to have the ip address memorized or written down, but rather just remembering a name, such as "customer.mptelco.com". This would make it easy to reach your computer at home from your office, with only a url style name.*
Customer also have the option of using our servers for file transfers. Files that are too large to be sent over email due to the external server's size limit, or files that aren't suitable for the few other types of data transfer, could be placed on our server, and a url provided for the customer that will allow downloading of the file. All of this type of transfer would need to be approved, and login information would need to be created. Contact the system administrator for questions regaurding this service.
